New Garage Door Installation & Replacement in Brisbane

Whether you are building from scratch, replacing a door that has reached the end of its life, or upgrading a tired tilt door to a modern sectional, the install is the part that decides how the door behaves for the next twenty years. Core Garage Door measures your opening properly — headroom, side room, backroom and the state of the timber jambs — and specifies a door that actually suits the structure, the street and the way you use the garage. We install sectional, roller and tilt doors from the major Australian brands, size and fit the spring system to the finished weight of your specific door, and set the motor up correctly rather than to the factory default. A new door is also the single most visible upgrade you can make to a Brisbane street frontage, so we treat the finish as part of the job.

  • Proper measure-up: headroom, side room, backroom and jamb condition checked before anything is quoted
  • Springs sized to your finished door weight, not to a generic table
  • Sectional, roller and tilt from the major Australian brands
  • Insulation and wind rating specified to your aspect and exposure, not upsold by default
  • Old door removed and disposed of as part of the job

How it works

What to expect when you call

1

On-site measure and quote

We measure the opening and check headroom, side room and backroom, inspect the jambs and lintel, and talk through how you actually use the garage. You get a free written quote with the real options, not a single take-it-or-leave-it number.

2

Choose the door

Style, material, colour, insulation and wind rating, matched to the house and the aspect. We bring the range to you and tell you honestly where spending more pays off and where it does not.

3

Install day

We remove and dispose of the old door, repair or replace jambs where needed, fit the new door and track, fit and tension the spring system to the door's finished weight, and install and program the motor.

4

Balance, test and show you

The door is balanced so it holds anywhere in its travel, the motor's limits and force are set to the door, the auto-reverse safety function is tested, and we walk you through the remotes, the manual release and the maintenance before we go.

Installation & Replacement FAQs

How long does a new garage door installation take?

A straight replacement into a sound opening is usually a half-day job. Add time if the jambs need repair, if you are converting from tilt to sectional, or if a motor is being added to a door that was manual. We give you a realistic window at the quote, and if we find rot in the jambs on the day we show you before we proceed.

Can I replace just one panel instead of the whole door?

Often yes, if the door is a current model and the panel is still made in your profile and colour. Sectional doors are built from individual panels precisely so a damaged one can be swapped. On older or discontinued doors the panel may no longer exist, and a colour-matched replacement across a faded door rarely looks right — we will tell you which situation you are in.

What is the difference between a sectional and a roller door?

A sectional (panel-lift) door is made of hinged panels that travel up and back along horizontal tracks under the ceiling. A roller door is a single curtain of slats that coils around a barrel above the opening. Roller doors need almost no headroom or ceiling space and are very common in Queensland; sectionals seal better, insulate better, are quieter, and offer far more style options. Which one suits you is mostly a question of what your garage's structure allows.

Do I need an insulated garage door in Brisbane?

It matters most if the garage faces west, if there is a room above or beside it, or if you use the space as a workshop, gym or studio. A west-facing uninsulated door turns a Brisbane afternoon into radiant heat that pushes straight into the house. If the garage is a detached box you park in, insulation is a nice-to-have rather than a need.

Can you install a garage door on a new build?

Yes, and it is worth getting us in before the opening is finished rather than after. Headroom, side room and lintel height decide which doors are possible, and a small change on the plan is free while a rebuild later is not.

Installation & Replacement — what customers say

Replaced the tired old tilt door on our Queenslander. They actually understood the character overlay side of it and showed me what would and wouldn't get past it, which the first two mobs I called did not.
